Job Overview
Working under the guidance of experienced chefs and kitchen staff, the cook's primary goal is to assist in the preparation of food items for table service, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and ensure that dishes are prepared according to the established recipes and quality standards while learning and implementing the fundamentals of culinary arts and kitchen operations.
About the Role:
The Line Cook at Century Wilshire-The Culver Hotel plays a pivotal role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes that meet the hotel's standards and guest expectations. The Lead Line Cook will mentor and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Additionally, this role involves managing inventory, ensuring food safety protocols are followed, and contributing to menu development. Ultimately, the Lead Line Cook is essential in delivering an exceptional dining experience that enhances the hotel's reputation in the hospitality industry.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on line cooking.
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Culinary degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a leadership role within a kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to meet guest expectations.
- Train and mentor junior cooks and kitchen staff, providing guidance on techniques and best practices.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and handling of food items.
