PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Supervises and coordinates daily activities of District grounds maintenance operations to ensure grounds are safe, neat, and attractive
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas driver’s license, insurable with Judson ISD insurance carrier, and a good driving record
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of gardening and landscape maintenance
- Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools
- Ability to direct and supervise personnel in a positive manner and coordinate grounds operations
Experience:
- Minimum of (2) two years supervisory experience OR
- Minimum of (3) three years of verifiable groundskeeper experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

- Ensure compliance of District directives and Maintenance policies and safety procedures by personnel assigned to district grounds
- Coordinate the scheduled day to day activities of the area assigned and oversees completion
- Schedule assigned work orders and obtains required material
- Assist the Grounds Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director of Maintenance in evaluating employees in his/her group
- Inventory materials and tools assigned to his/her shop
- Complete required paper work for daily time logs, work orders and equipment repair request
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and material needs for assigned projects
- Ensure that all safety procedures are followed by his/her department
- Operate and maintain riding and power mower equipment used for grounds operations
- Inspect grounds and facilities and initiate needed repairs, including buildings and repairs of fences, and gates
- Instruct assigned personnel on proper and safe use of tools and equipment
- Ensure that vehicles, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition
- Correct unsafe conditions in work areas and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Recommend replacement of existing equipment
- Work extended hours and/or weeks as required throughout the year
- Assist district with special projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs
- Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Monitor and provide evaluation input of District grounds persons
Equipment Used:
- Mower; riding and power mower; gas-powered weed trimmer; blower; edger; sprayer; garden and hand tools; aerator. Light truck or van.

- Ability to read, concentrate, communicate effectively (verbally and written), interpret, reason, understand verbal instructions, memorize, coordinate, compile, compute, analyze, differentiate
- Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands:
- Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, traveling
- Occasional: Lifting, heavy, 45 pounds or more
Environmental Factors:
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
- Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces
- Work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours
