PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Maintains a safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district, using proper safety procedures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas Driver’s License, insurable with Judson ISD insurance carrier, and a good driving record
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Ability to communicate (verbally)
- Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools and gasoline backpack blower and weed eater
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

- Comply with District directives and Maintenance Policies and Procedures and follows all safety procedures
- Pick up debris and then mows grounds throughout the district
- Sweeps grass cuttings, trimmings and trash and places in school dumpster
- Trims and prunes all trees and shrubs as needed, and disposes of cuttings
- Performs other grounds related activities throughout the district, such as fencing, dirt work as needed, parking lot striping, or other work required and assigned
- Keeps all equipment clean and operates equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations
- Maintains clean vehicles, checks oil and water, and has vehicles filled with fuel on a daily basis
- Demonstrates safe work habits in all phases of grounds maintenance
- Helps keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition
- Inspects and adjusts tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and performs preventive maintenance as needed
- Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

Equipment Used:
- Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position
- Tractor and mower, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, posthole auger, aerator. Light truck or van.

- Ability to read, concentrate, communicate (verbally and written), interpret, reason, understand verbal instructions, memorize, coordinate, compile, compute
- Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands:
- Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, traveling
- Occasional: Lifting, moderate, 15-44 pounds
Environmental Factors:
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
- Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.)
- Work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces
- Work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours
