JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Office of Physical Plant is currently hiring qualified skilled trades individuals for summer employment beginning May 19, 2025, through August 15, 2025. These positions require 40 hours of work per week and are available in the following trades: Electrical, Refrigeration/Plumbing, and Heating & Ventilation.
PLEASE NOTE: To be considered for employment, please submit a cover letter stating your area of interest in addition to your resume.
Refrigeration/Plumbing Duties:
Assist with preventative maintenance of commercial refrigeration and cooling systems/equipment.
Assist other technicians with dispatch calls for cooling systems
Assist with the service and repair of, but not limited to, heat pumps, compressors, ice machines, laboratory equipment, condensers, evaporators, and associated controls.
Report extensive repairs needed to the supervisor
Heating & Ventilation Duties:
Assist with general maintenance and repairs to RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, etc.
Assist with the preventative maintenance of heating and ventilation systems
Assist other technicians with building automation systems (BAS)
Report extensive repairs needed to the supervisor
Assist other technicians with HVAC needs
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESEmployment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
