    JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE WORKER

    REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings and Grounds

    NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that all students, staff, and the community are provided a safe, attractive and clean, and healthy environment for learning and work.

    QUALIFICATIONS (The maintenance worker shall): 1. Have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent. 2. Hold and maintain a valid drivers license for the type of equipment to be driven, with no serious violations. 3. Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in several areas of maintenance (e.g. plumbing, painting, carpentry, masonry/concrete/tile, electrical, mechanical, HVAC systems, plastering /spackling, field/playground inspection and maintenance, furniture repair, snow removal by use of truck or small equipment, operation of a skid steer, and minor engine repair). *Seeking strong background in HVAC systems and automated controls. 4. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates personal character and interpersonal skills to relate with students, staff, administration, parents and the community. 5. Possess a commitment to continuous improvement.

    JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The Maintenance Worker shall): 1. Perform general maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of areas and as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds and in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations. 2. Perform assignments related to insuring all schools and district sites are able to safely open and function as assigned. This includes working cooperatively with custodial employees during emergency operations. 3. Perform regular inspections of equipment and systems, reporting any abnormalities and hazards immediately. 4. Respond to emergency situations and perform necessary repairs whether they be during or after normal work hours. When required to respond after hours, maintenance personnel will compensated at the pay rated provided in the BESPA contract. 5. Use the work order system, making sure that work orders have been written and approved before performing tasks, except in emergency situations. 6. Recommend repairs or procedures that are beyond the scope of responsibilities, skill, or experience, outlining the work needed and specifications required of an outsidee contractor. 7. Ensure that all applicable fire, safety, health, and environmental regulations and laws are observed and exceeded. 8. Remove snow and ice by shoveling, plowing, and/or salting sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, in conjunction with District custodial staff. 9. Attend required meetings and complete required trainings. 10. Have basic technological skills needed to access district programs. 11. Perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Board of Education or their designee.

Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but can be noisy at times.

    EMPLOYMENT TERMS: As defined by BESPA Contract EVALUATION: performance in this position will be evaluated with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of BESPA personnel.
