Support Staff / Custodian

Union Ridge School, District 86, is hiring full-time Night Custodians.

JOB GOAL: Maintain a safe and secure environment, balancing the need to protect students, staff, community, and property with the goal of creating an atmosphere conducive to learning.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 2:30 pm -10:30 pm Mon-Fri/ $19hr.

REPORTS TO: Building Maintenance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have High School diploma or equivalent
2. Must have a current and valid Illinois driver’s license
3. Must have a good driving record
4. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
5. Able to communicate and understand simple written and oral instructions in English
6. Able to lift up to 50 lb. and transport materials (equipment, supplies, etc.) of that weight to various sites and throughout the school
7. Able to work off ladders
8. Able to operate equipment properly and safely
9. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
10. Capable of effectively and safely using hand tools, power tools, and equipment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform painting of the interior and exterior of buildings and facilities
2. Perform and assist in ground maintenance
3. Perform custodial functions and duties
4. Perform moving of equipment, materials, furniture, and supplies
5. Clean and maintain equipment, and District vehicle
6. Report any equipment needing repair to Building Maintenance Manager
7. Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and safe working environment
8. Always maintain the building and premises neat and clean
9. Ensure that door and window systems are functioning properly
10. Open and secure buildings for after-hour usage and assist groups when needed
11. Ensure that all doors and windows are secured and designated lights are turned off
12. Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Building Principal, Building Maintenance Manager, or other administrators.

Terms of Employment:

260 workdays. Salary and work year established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation:

Performance for this job will be evaluated by the Business Manager and Building Maintenance Manager.
