Seasonal Groundkeeper

Department: Facilities

Reports to: Facilities Shift Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Starting Rate: $15.97 per hour

Closing Date: Open Until filled

SUMMARY : Groundskeepers are responsible for efficiently performing a variety of tasks to prepare and maintain property during winter months, specifically snow removal. The groundskeeper must be familiar with snow removal equipment, have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

+ Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with the guests and fellow associates

+ Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of machinery/equipment, such as tractors, snow plows, salt spreaders and snow blowers.

+ Maintain snow removal on Casino property, including the Administration Building.

+ Informs Lead Groundskeeper of any trends or recurring problems with equipment.

+ Basic knowledge of hand tools and repair

+ Effective interpersonal communication skills

+ Must be available on-call, basis, nights, weekends and holidays

+ Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential

+ Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions

+ Self-starting individual who follows directions, adheres to a work schedule, and can focus on details

+ Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision

+ Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients and vendors

+ Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a Team Player and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. + EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school/GED diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract upon applying.

+ LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to quests, clients, and other associates of the organization.

+ REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must obtain and maintain a St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Work Permit which requires a background check to be used solely for employment purposes. Failure to disclose required information will result in rescinding the job offer. Successful candidates for employment must submit to and pass a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. In case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort. The entire process may take up to 10 days. Employment will not begin until process is complete
