Summary of Position
The Cook I is an integral part of the team, responsible for managing the delegation of tasks for their assigned station. In addition to prepping ingredients, the Cook I uses their in-depth knowledge of dishes to execute dinner service
Roles and Responsibilities
- Works under the direction of chefs to delegate and complete assigned daily tasks
- Expert knowledge the techniques, ingredients and recipes needed to complete all dishes
- Oversees their designated station and staff-meal production by performing quality control
- Incorporates feedback from the chefs to strive for personal and professional development
- Supports and communicates equipment maintenance/property to a manager on duty
- Receives and inspects deliveries for quality & storage of product and produce (FIFO)
- Takes initiative to assist in various kitchen areas as necessary or when the need arises
- Performs basic and deep cleaning of prep areas/equipment (cleaning, flipping and labeling)
- Demonstrates a strong enthusiasm and actively contributes to the preparation of staff meal
- Monitors inventory levels and can independently submit orders as needed
- Complies with all health department requirements of food safety and staff hygiene
- Follows safety and emergency procedures to protect staff, guests, and property
- Reports any maintenance deficiencies immediately to the appropriate personnel
- Maintains a thorough understanding of the industry and stays abreast of industry trends
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and staff
- Acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
- Performs other duties as assigned by FOH/BOH supervisors and managers

- Maintains concentration and standards of organization in high-pressure situations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours
- Must be able to move, pull, or lift at least 35 pounds
- Must be able to climb stairs multiple times per shift
- Must be able to carry a full tray with either hand
