The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chef at Radish, the Sous Chef plays a key role in leading the kitchen team and back of house operations. This role oversees daily food preparation, supervises kitchen staff, and maintains the high culinary standards that have made us a favourite in the neighbourhood.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Chef/GM and other team members to stay informed on daily menu needs, special events, and essential shift details.
- Support and oversee the preparation and execution of menu items, ensuring food quality and presentation meet the restaurant's standards.
- Assist Chef in creating seasonal and special menu items that highlight local, sustainable ingredients.
- Responsible for the proper cleanliness of the kitchen. Oversee and manage daily/weekly cleaning duties for kitchen staff, delegating additional cleaning tasks are needed.
- Conduct walk-throughs prior to service and confirm that all stations are properly staffed and stocked with necessary ingredients.
- Lead, mentor, and train kitchen staff to foster a positive and collaborative working environment. Ensure that team members are well-supported and equipped to perform their roles effectively.
- Manage and monitor inventor and order supplies, keeping all storage areas organized, clean, and well-maintained. Reduce waste through portion control and proper storage.
- Help control labour costs and minimize waste to meet financial goals.
- Review all invoices for accuracy and correct errors if necessary.
the kitchen team is compliant with health and safety regulations, including food handling and equipment maintenance.
- Take initiative to learn and develop new culinary skills to stay up to date on concepts and techniques.
Qualifications
- Experience in a similar role preferred.
- Strong cooking and prep skills.
- Experience leading and training a team.
- Knowledge of food safety and cleanliness.
- Able to manage inventory and reduce waste.
- Creative and collaborative.
- Flexible availability.
The Compensation
The typical range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000 plus sales pool. The final compensation will vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer competitive health and dental benefits as well as company perks!
