Job Summary

Workingas part of the kitchen team, the Kitchen Helper at Phoenix Society isresponsible for food preparation. Key responsibilities include preparing mealingredients, maintaining a clean kitchen area, cleaning dishes and cookinginstruments; and loading items for transport to the Societys various locationsin a safe, timely manner.

Responsibilities:

Food Services

Prepare meal ingredients for cooks, including washing,peeling, cutting and slicing ingredients

Assist kitchen staff tounload food supplies from delivery trucks

Store ingredients and fooditems according to food safety standards

Remove expired or spoiledingredients from the refrigerator, freezer and stockroom

Clean and store all dishes,utensils and cooking instruments

Pack take-out orders asneeded

Load, items for transport to theSocietys various housing locations in a safe, timely manner

Sanitize food serviceequipment (e.g., Cambro carts) when they are returned from meal servicedelivery

Remove garbage/compost,replace garbage/compost bags and wash garbage/compost bins

Mop and sweep kitchen areasas required

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Grade 10

Recent, related experience of one year in foodpreparation, cleaning or equivalent Or an equivalentcombination of education, training, and experience Or otherQualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work

Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check withvulnerable sector screening is required

Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screen form isrequired

Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Recordform is required

First Aid certification with CPR is required

Food Safe Level 1 is required

Ability to follow all food health and safety regulations

Ability to lift and carry heavy items for extendedperiods
