This position is located in the Housekeeping Department of the SW Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Louisiana Veterans Homes are agencies under the management of the Louisiana Department of Veteran Affairs. Our twenty-four(24) hour long term health care facilities accommodate 156 veterans.
The Custodian 1/2 position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, conditions, and infection control, that must meet the standards set by licensure and certification of the State of Lousisiana and Veterans Administration and the compliance of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for a Louisiana War Veterans Home, a 156 bed long term health care facility. The Custodian 1/2 receives direct supervision from the Custodian Supervisor 2.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
30% Clean, mop, disinfect, dust and sweep assigned areas daily. Report deficiencies such as peeling paint, water leaks on faucets/toilets, bugs in light covers, broken equipment, etc.
30% Clean contaminated trash bins, decontaminate patient rooms, rest rooms and isolation rooms which contain biohazard waste such as blood, urine, feces, and used needles. Dispose of infectious waste when necessary and document that proper procedures were followed.
15% Strip, buff, wax and disinfect floors to an assigned area on a regular basis using required industrial machinery.
15% Vacuum and shampoo carpets by using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner. Clean furniture, walls, baseboards, doors mirrors, toilets, urinals, whirlpools, shower stalls, etc by using approved chemical clearners/disinfectants as required for health standards.
5% Mix cleaning solutions to proper concentration as necessary for various tasks. Responsible for care and maintenance of equipment.
5% Attend in-service training as required pertaining to safety, biohazard material controls, chemical safety, new equipment orientation, infectious control procedures, etc.
Perform other related duties as required.

Appointment: WAE (PRN)
Compensation: This position is eligible for retention pay of $2.00 per hour
