The Piedmont Central Dining Hall at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Custodian II.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position promotes sustainability within Dining operations including implementation and maintenance of recycling procedures. Works with management to ensure continued compliance with green seal initiatives. In addition to "other duties as assigned", this position may require you to be cross-trained for another position and/or responsibility in order to provide both backup for a department as well as to supplement resources needed during certain times of the year.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Inspects dining facility on a daily basis and reports any damaged structures, furniture, equipment, flooring, or any repair requests, as well as any safety concerns, to their supervisor.
- Maintains the appearance of offices, hallways, restrooms, and dining areas by performing housekeeping duties, such as cleaning counters, equipment and furnishings, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and removing trash. Wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors as needed.
- Recommends chemicals and equipment for purchase and prepares cleaning solutions conducive to cleaning and maintaining the facility. Ensures security of cleaning supply storage. Oversees chemical training for assigned areas.
- Serves as lead person on cleaning assignments. Assists in the training and development of Custodian I on cleaning methods and procedures. Oversees assigned student and temporary personnel.
- Washes walls, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills, as well as any additional detailed cleaning work according to schedule. Sets up chairs, tables and other equipment for meetings and events as needed. Handles emergency clean ups.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting. Must pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous custodial experience.
- Physical Requirements: Extended standing, walking, ability to bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders.
- Ability to work in all temperature conditions.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds.
- Flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
