Receptionist

Federal Signal has an immediate opening for a Receptionist at its University Park, IL facility. This position is responsible for operating the switchboard and serving as the primary contact for visitors. This position will also support the Human Resources Department by serving as the first point of contact on general HR questions, assisting with the coordination of events, scheduling interviews, and maintaining the electronic messaging boards.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Answer and direct telephone calls from the switchboard in an efficient and courteous manner.
• Greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner, announce their arrival, and ensure that guests entering the office sign in and out of the visitor log book.
• Update and maintain the welcome monitors for customers visiting the facility.
• Maintain the electronic messaging boards across the facility for employee communications.
• Serve as the first point of contact to employees for general HR questions.
• Assist with University Park event coordination. This includes the monthly anniversary and birthday celebrations.
• Coordinate phone and in-person interviews for open positions.
• Assist with the preparation and scheduling of the weekly new hire orientation.
• Oversee inventory and employee purchases for Feds Threads.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associates Degree preferred
• Minimum 1 year of previous receptionist and/or human resources administrative experience required
• Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity
• Ability to work with limited supervision and high motivation
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent telephone etiquette
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Able to perform multiple tasks quickly
• Positive, friendly and respectful attitude
• Calm, courteous and professional demeanor
• Able to take initiative and follow through on assignments
• Organized and detail oriented

Anticipated hourly rate: $17.57 per hr - 25.10 per hr + annual bonus
