A vacancy exists for the position ofHead Custodianwithin the Half Hollow Hills School District Facilities Department.The opening is located at Vanderbilt Elementary School. The hours are 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m., with both the building and hours subject to change based on the discretion and best interest of the school district. The successful candidate will be expected to work overtime, as needed.

Eligible candidate's background, experience and requirements of the job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of and experience in:
  • Maintaining the physical plant in a safe and sanitary condition
  • Successfully being a first-line supervisor, accountable for a team of custodians ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  • Responding to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (i.e. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for the purposes of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Providing feedback/follow up to the supervisor on life, health, safety, quality, and maintenance issues
  • Preparing written materials (i.e. supply requisitions, safety and subordinate inspections, work orders, inventory and attendance records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities to administration for action
  • Properly operating and storing, perform scheduled maintenance, tune-ups and perform minor repairs to various types of equipment, including but not limited to snow blowers, leaf blowers, lawn movers, etc.
  • Demonstrating the ability to work in a diverse environment (inside/outside)

Demonstrating the ability to work effectively under time constraints and in an environment of constantly changing priorities, expectations
