trained staff utilizing a team approach. 1. TITLE OF POSITION: Cook

2.DEPARTMENT: Nutrition and Food Service 3.RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive

Chef 4. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY for: In the absence of the First

Cook/Chef: Nutrition Assistants, Hostess; Coffee Shop Worker/Cafe

Worker/Assisted Living Kitchen staff if applicable 5. QUALIFICATIONS FOR

POSITION: A. EDUCATION Training in the food service area desired. B.

EXPERIENCE Previous cooking experience in restaurant, long-term care

facility or hospital setting, particularly with supervisory

responsibilities C. SPECIALIZED SKILLS Knowledge of nutrition and

sanitation suggested. Must possess and maintain current Serve-Safe

(HACCP) certification. D. ESSENTIAL PERSONALITY TRAITS Dependability and

mature judgment in problem solving situations. Ability to provide

direction to other staff members 6. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

A. Ability to speak, read and write effectively in English B. Stands or

walks most of the day, stoops and reaches above shoulder height; lifts

and carries food and kitchen equipment weighing approximately 25 lbs. a

distance of 50 feet. Exposure to many different temperatures from

extreme cold to extreme heat. C. Exposure to blood borne pathogens as

indicated by the OSHA guidelines and does involve occupational exposure

to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The category numbers

(1-3) at the end of each position function indicates risk of exposure

with 1 the highest and 3 indicating no exposure. 7. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

OF THIS POSITION A. Adheres to all sanitation regulations governing

handling and serving of food and overall cleanliness of the Nutrition

and Food Service Department. Maintain appropriate documentation B.

Prepares and cooks foods under direction of First Cook/Chef and Food

Service Director C.Serves meals according to facility schedules and

adhere to planned recipes and menus D. Carries out kitchen cleaning

assignments according to schedule E. Maintains cleanliness and

orderliness of work area. Ensures thorough completion of work

assignments and cleanliness of Kitchen F. Uses kitchen equipment and

knives for food preparation appropriately and safely G. Assumes

responsibility of the First Cook/Chef in his/her absence H. Performs

other duties as assigned 8. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

A. Assure confidentiality of all resident/patient information. Complies

with access level and minimum necessary guidelines for use of (Pill)

Protected Health Information. Please refer to the Minimum Necessary
