Pay: $44595 - $52000 / year (paid hourly); may increase when union contract starts

Schedule: Mon - Fri; 7a - 3:30p (w/ availability for on-call if needed)

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY | IBM campus

Job Description Maintenance Mechanic Level 1

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities could include the following:
  • Moving furniture and equipment as directed.
  • Trucking furniture and equipment between buildings.
  • Warehousing of furniture and equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance (PMs) work as assigned including performing general maintenance inspections on doors, wet vacs, corded equipment, mechanical rooms, common areas and building lighting.
  • Assists senior mechanics with more complex tasks or major repairs/modifications.
  • Availability to work overtime (both scheduled and emergency), after hours (early morning or late night), weekends and holidays as required.
  • Exposed to commercial mechanical, electrical, and building systems.

Perform general maintenance work on a variety of facilities and building equipment, structures, and hardware including:

  • Minor door adjustments
  • Chair, shelving and other furniture adjustments
  • Minor desk repairs
  • Ceiling tile replacement
  • Light bulb replacement
  • Securing loose or hazardous carpet and floor tile
  • Other architectural aspects of a commercial building as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a clean drivers license to move furniture and materials between buildings.
  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with customers and coworkers.
  • Attend all scheduled safety training offered and scheduled by management

Skills

  • Knowledge and experience with basic hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge and experience with one or more of the following facilities systems is preferred: Office furniture installation and repair, ability to hang whiteboards and overstores. And all aspects of basic general maintenance.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Outlook and associated programs.
  • Be able to organize your workload efficiently to meet all customer requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic layout drawings, system drawings and manufacturers equipment specifications.
  • Knowledge of standard maintenance practices.
