What your day will look like:

Under supervision from the Directors of Facilities and Maintenance, you will skillfully perform a variety of complex and heavy duty grounds maintenance and activities; and other related work as required. This will include:

• Operating a variety of power equipment, including large gang mowers, tractors, skid steer (and attachments), along with a wide variety of garden and landscaping tools: edgers, mowers, paint sprayers, groomers, weed sprayers, and aerators.
• Performing specialized functions using a variety of tractor/skid steer attachments.
• Operating a truck with a trailer attachment in transporting heavy duty grounds maintenance equipment from worksite to worksite.
• Servicing grounds maintenance equipment and making minor adjustments and repairs and performing a variety of preventative maintenance functions on equipment used.
• Mowing large fields and sweeping large areas of asphalt and concrete.
• Maintaining flower beds, landscaping, bushes, shrubs and trees, mulch beds, and general weed control including parking lot weeds.
• May smooth and level athletic fields and running tracks (includes rolling fields and conditioning the turf).
• Spraying for weeds along fence lines, gravel areas, curbs, and parking lot cracks.
• Mowing, fertilizing, and irrigating athletic fields and grounds.
• Working with high school and middle school athletic directors and coaches to prepare for games, matches, meets, events, etc.
• Lining athletic fields.
• Performing trash removal before and after games and athletic contests.
• Helping to winterize facilities as well as open up facilities for the start of new seasons.
• During the winter months, the groundskeeper will join the maintenance crew.

Why we’ll love you:

• You have worked hard to earn a H.S. Diploma or equivalency.
• You have at least two years of experience in the operation of large ground equipment, tractors, trucks, and large power mowers used in performing grounds maintenance and gardening work.
• You have knowledge and experience in the methods, procedures, materials, and tools commonly utilized in grounds maintenance and gardening work.
• You have basic knowledge of all building systems with a more general knowledge in assigned areas.
• You have or are willing to obtain a herbicide license.
• You possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
• You have the ability to exert 75 to 100 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• You have the ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps, and can stand for extended periods of time,
• You can establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
