Job Summary:
Food Service Assistant I: This position functions at the beginner level of t he Food Service Assistant job class series. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining sanitation standards in assigned work areas; performing all functions related to customer meal delivery; performing customer meal preparation tasks.
Food Service Assistant II: This position functions at the advanced level of the Food Service Assistant job class series. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining sanitation standards in assigned work areas; performing all functions related to customer meal delivery; performing customer meal preparation tasks. Incumbents assist in orienting new staff to their assigned stations and assisting with the coordination of duties during assigned shifts.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
Food Service Assistant I
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in institutional food service is preferred.
Certification: Alaska Food Worker Card within 60 days of hire.
Other: Must be 18 years of age. Ability to read, write, and speak English language to interpret documents such as recipes, menus, meal tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and logs, and procedure manuals.
Food Service Assistant II
Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent preferred
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a FSA I at Bartlett or documented comparable experience in an institutional food service setting is required. Competency to advance to FSA II from FSA I assessed by competency checklist and performance assessment by supervisor.
Certification: Must hold an Alaska Food Worker Card or for new hires, obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Other: Must be 18 years of age. Ability to read, write, and speak English language to interpret documents such as recipes, menus, meal tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and logs, and procedure manuals.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
Food Service Assistant I starts at $20.47 per hour
Food Service Assistant II starts at $22.40 per hour
