Job Description Summary
The Bartender / Server is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. The bartender /Server sets-up, services, and breaks-down the bar/lounge area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency and service.Job Description
- Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
- Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
- Also acts as a Server when needed
- Serving guests, bussing tables, running food, completing all side work as assigned
- Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
- Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
- Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
- Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
- Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
- Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Developing new cocktail recipes.
- Following Sonesta A+ Service Standards
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One - three years of previous hotel or hospitality experience preferred.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills, including basic math, preferred.
- Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred.
- Valid TABC and Food Handler Certification required
- Ability to adhere to the propertys grooming standards.
- Ability to stand and walk on a continuous basis as warranted.
- Ability to lift, carries, approximately 30 lbs.
- Ability to work inside and outdoors as needed
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and other employees.
- Ability to interact with guests and other employees in a courteous, empathetic, and discreet manner.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- Ability to sustain direct contact with the public; must establish high degree of customer service, (smile, eye contact, positive personal presentation, etc.), and high volume interaction with guests and staff.
- Will be required to work afternoons, evening, weekends, and holidays
