Position Overview
Joining Cabot Citrus Farms as a Landscape Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the resort’s outdoor spaces. This position involves the care, maintenance, and enhancement of landscaping around the clubhouse, lodging areas, pathways, and other non-playing areas of the resort. Responsibilities include planting, pruning, irrigation, mowing, and seasonal clean-up, ensuring that all landscaped areas meet CCF's high standards for beauty and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have experience with horticultural practices, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail in creating a welcoming and well-groomed environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate hand-mowing equipment such as line trimmers, push mowers, and self-propelled walk-behind units.
- Operate tractors, loaders, aerifiers, utility vehicles and other maintenance equipment in a safe, non-destructive manner.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters, or other grounds features.
- Debris and garbage collection.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed.
- Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, fences, or benches using hand or power tools.
- Cleans and returns all equipment and tools to designated areas daily.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Knowledge of the safe operation of handheld and motorized equipment.
- Knowledge of the principals of operation of gasoline and diesel engines, maintenance tools and materials.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to work flexible hours – mornings, evenings, weekdays and weekends as required.
- Positive attitude and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly responsible & reliable.
Working Conditions
- Work in various weather conditions, including sun, rain, wind, and cold. Appropriate clothing and gear are necessary.
- Engage in physical tasks such as walking, bending, lifting, and operating landscaping equipment.
- Navigate diverse terrains, including uneven ground, slopes, and potentially challenging landscapes.
- Be aware of potential exposure to insects, allergens, and plants that may cause irritation or allergies.
- Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries while using tools and equipment.
- Potential for long hours, including early mornings and late evenings, especially during peak seasons or for special projects.
