Job Summary
PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:The primary purpose of your job is to maintain patient flow and provide administrative assistant coverage in a confidential manner for the Infusion and Oncology Department. Performs all reception and secretarial duties.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
As the medical receptionist in the Infusion and Oncology Department, you are delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
-Greet Patients upon arrival.
-Evaluate Patient requests and direct appropriately.
-Maintain Patient confidentiality at all times.
-Schedule patient appointments. Make reminder calls for appointments.
-Update LMR schedule as needed.
-Request and update Patient demographics.
-Request and update Patient insurance.
-Verify Patient Insurance eligibility.
-Request and process Insurance Co-pays.
-Process Patient Insurance referrals.
-Organize billing slips at the end of each work day.
-Provide clerical support as requested. Order supplies as needed.
-Communicate with other departments as needed.
-Pick up, sort and distribute the mail.
-Complete Safety & Compliance Fair yearly.
-Attend Staff Meetings as required.
-Assist with all aspects of daily operations.
-Complies with the MVH Code of Conduct.
-Works within legal, regulatory and ethical practice standards.
-Meets attendance and punctuality standards. Demonstrates reliability and accountability.
-Maintains cooperative working relationships with the nurses, physicians and other health care staff, agencies and facilities. Is professional in appearance appropriate to role and environment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school Graduate College or secretarial school educational preferred.
Computer competency on Microsoft office required.
Meditech and LMR experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in a medical/surgical office.
Medical or secretarial background.
Accurate typing of proficient speed; excellent spelling and grammar skills.
