As the Chief Sommelier at Beefbar, you will be responsible for managing our wine selection, recommending wine pairings, and enhancing the overall guest experience through your expertise in wines with our corporate Beverage Director. Your role is integral to maintaining the high standards of our dining service and ensuring that our wine offerings complement our menu perfectly. Successful candidates will excel in both administrative duties and will maintain a strong wine presence on the floor to uphold our high standards.
Responsibilities
Curate and manage an extensive and diverse wine list, ensuring optimal selections that align with our menu.
Provide personalized wine recommendations to guests based on their preferences and the dishes they order.
Oversee the wine inventory, including ordering, stock control, and proper storage to maintain wine quality.
Train and educate the service staff on wine pairings, tasting notes, and proper wine service techniques and SOPs.
Organize and host wine tastings, pairing dinners, and other wine-related events to engage guests and promote our wine program.
Ensure compliance with all local laws and regulations regarding the responsible service of alcohol.
Qualifications
3-4 years of experience as a lead Sommelier in progressive, fine dining establishments.
Extensive knowledge of wines, including regions, grape varieties, and vintages.
WSET III or equivalent qualifications required. Michelin or high-volume experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage inventory effectively.
Passionate about wine and dedicated to continual learning and growth in the field.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity to handle wine bottles and glasses safely.
