Job Summary:The Bell Captain is a leader of the Front Desk team and responsible for providing the first face-to-face impression to our guests and ensuring guests are given accurate and in-depth information about their accommodations and the park.

The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: December 2025 to March 2026Pay: $12/hr + tips.Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Understand and assure company policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Motivate all bell staff to perform their duties at an optimum level.
  • Greet guests and tour directors in a friendly manner, and provide luggage service and accurate information to guests.
  • Resolve guest problems skillfully with willingness and desire to understand a guest's viewpoint and take any necessary steps so that the guest is satisfied when they leave.
  • Review Kronos daily and complete payroll reports on a daily/weekly basis for all bell personnel.
  • Ensure group tip forms are filled out in a timely manner and the group tips are added to Kronos every week.
  • Ensure bell staff is declaring cash tips daily, even when zero and fill out the bi-weekly cash tip declaration form.
  • Provide timely feedback on all bell staff to the Front Office Managers.
  • Training and coaching bell staff in the areas of guest service, luggage handling, shuttle service, area cleanliness, and fire and safety procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback to staff and prepare employee HIGs and documentation.
  • Scheduling bell staff to ensure efficient handling of individual and group guest luggage.
  • Assure dress, appearance, and conduct policies established by Xanterra and the Lodging Department are followed and enforced.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Perform all job duties toward the goal of ensuring the best possible guest service.

Qualifications

  • Human relations skills. Must be a "people-person" who thrives on public contact.
  • Ability to deal with guests when they are angry or upset.
  • Ability to work quickly and thoroughly when under pressure.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older to drive company vehicles.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license and good driving record.
  • Will be required to pass a DOT physical and road test.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing of guest luggage up to 100 lbs, and/or up to 500 lbs on wheeled carts, for up to 6 hours per shift.
  • Extensive stretching, bending, kneeling, walking, climbing up and down stairs. Could total up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Standing for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Working in various weather conditions.
