NC State Dining is looking for enthusiastic individuals to Join our Pack as a temporary Barista. You'll find meaningful employment opportunities across our retail and hospitality units.
Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare quality beverages, such as espresso-based beverages, shakes, smoothies, and other drinks, and food products by consistently adhering to all recipe and brand presentation standards while following all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner, following the outlined steps of service, and provide excellent customer service.
- Resolve customer concerns to the best of your ability and relay relevant information to the supervisor.
- Operate the micros system (point of sale) and accurately process transactions in adherence with university policy.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and guests.
- Maintain temperature and sanitation to ensure food safety.
- Receive and stock store merchandise.
- Perform opening and closing duties of the unit as assigned by the supervisor.

This is an hourly position with a 10-11 month assignment with a mandatory 32-day break at the end of 11 months.
NC State Dining provides campus wide food services to students, staff, and faculty on the North Carolina State University Campus. NC State Dining operates 11 cafes, 3 food courts and 6 dining halls, 3 markets, 2 restaurants, vending, a nutritional counseling service, and a catering department. The department employs approximately 1000 temporary and student employees and approximately 190 permanent EPS and SHRA employees.

Work Schedule Various shifts are available between the hours of 6:30 am - 11:00 pm. Shifts may rotate and vary depending on work location. Other Work/Responsibilities
- Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university as a whole and enrich the quality of life for the campus community and support student success.
- Work as a cohesive team member and play an integral part in creating a positive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Dining's business needs are met. Position may be asked to assist in other locations as necessary.
- Contribute to maintaining Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better
Minimum Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.

- Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations, to team and customers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including being able to adapt to the changing customer volume level with a sense of urgency and accuracy.

- This position requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, twisting, pulling and pushing. Because of the nature of a food service operation and working in a kitchen, you must be able to work in extremely hot and cold conditions.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Previous work experience in a coffee shop, or high volume fast food experience
- Cashier experience is preferred
- Proficient in the use of computers and email, and have the ability to learn new software programs
