Colorado State Veterans Homes are State-owned and operated skilled-nursing facilities dedicated to serving those who have served us. Duties:
- Perform daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work area as per assigned work schedule and procedures in use at the Facility by utilizing approved disinfectants, cleaners, associated chemicals and equipment. Procedures to consist of the established "7-step" Program, Routine. Performs floor work, including scrubbing, spot cleaning, and shampooing.
- In a method timely to the Facility, handle, sort, load, unload, fold, assign, hang, iron, repair, mend, label and distribute the Resident's laundry and Facility linen. Utilize approved disinfectants, cleaners, detergents, bleaching agents, soft/sour agents, spotters and associated chemicals. Know and follow procedures in Universal Precautions as well as the programming of all Laundry Equipment. Keep work-related records. Assist with minor maintenance assignments, i.e., changing lamps, changing filters, snow removal, light groundskeeping duties, etc
Minimum Qualifications:
Six (6) months of custodial experience (part-time experience will be prorated). Work Experience must be clearly documented on application. "Custodial Work" or "See Resume" or "Housekeeping" or "General Cleaning" statements will not be accepted in lieu of the official completed application form.
Conditions of Employment:
Applicant must be willing and able to work any shift, holidays and weekends
Applicant must be willing and able to meet the physical demands of the position as follows: Exert up to 100 lbs. Of force occasionally, and up to 50 lbs. Of force frequently, and up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Custodial experience in a long-term care or hospital facility preferred.
Three months experience in commercial laundry processing
Mixing, using and disposing of cleaning chemicals including understanding of the environmental issues involved in handling different cleaning products.
Identifying, minimizing and reporting safety hazards.
Working with commercial cleaning equipment.
Following proper sanitation procedures for restrooms including disinfecting urinals, toilet bowls, washing restroom partitions, walls, floors, showers and bathtubs.
Operating floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, burnishers and floor buffers for large areas.
Managing large scale cleaning projects in a cooperative team environment.
Shampooing carpets and furniture
Cleaning such as dusting, collecting trash, washing windows and sills, mirrors, woodwork, doors, walls and ceilings and filling soap, towel and toilet tissue dispensers.
Paying attention to detail, strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
Working in a team environment to complete daily workloads and provide support when necessary outside of assigned areas.
Excellent customer service skills to include communication with and responding to all levels of employees.
