We are seeking a meticulous and reliable individual to join our award-winning team as an Automotive Shop Cleaner and Groundskeeper. In this role, the Groundskeeper will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our automotive shop facilities and ensuring the surrounding grounds are well-kept.
The Groundskeeper is based at our maintenance facility located at 3316 S. Military Highway.
Duties include:
- Perform grounds care duties such as mowing lawns, trimming curbing, applying herbicides and picking up trash to maintain neat and tidy lot.
- Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions by picking up loose items, debris and securing any items that may be damaged.
- Operate and maintain garden and landscaping equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Pressure washing trucks and equipment.
- Recycle cans and other recyclable materials in accordance with city policies and environmental regulations.
- Manage waste oil and coolant disposal by draining oil pans and containers into designated waste oil containers and crushing oil filters as needed.
- Pumping drain pans containing coolant into designated containers as needed.
- Assist in maintaining general shop cleanliness and professional appearance.
- Empty and refill mop buckets, clean common area floors with a floor scrubber, and ensure proper disposal of waste oil dry and recyclable materials on a regular basis.
- Clean and organize the used tire area, tire bay area, and scrap metal bins weekly.
- Refill oil dry containers in the shop as needed.
- Assist in performing other duties such as moving shop equipment, assembling/disassembling items and assisting technicians as needed.
- Other odd jobs that may come up, within the abilities of the individual.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma, GED, OR specialized vocational training.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Ability to obtain a pesticide certification within 6 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: None.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work independently, within time constraints, and without distractions. Mechanical knowledge is a plus.
