- Provide event coordination and support
- Participate in event planning committee meetings to facilitate decision making and coordinate efforts
- Create and manage event planning packets, timelines, and budgets
- Event planning coordination including coordinating on-site spaces, logistics, food and entertainment; managing speaker travel and lodging; managing student workers and volunteers; and overseeing attendee registration.
- Providing customer service to event registrants and attendees.
- Tactfully handle situations that require immediate on-the-spot resolution to ensure excellent public relations.
- Assist with invoicing and project reporting including hourly time reports, project expenses, and revenue distribution
- Associates degree with at least two years of relevant experience including evidence of project planning and event management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Superior organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage tasks using a project management application
- Proficiency in software including:
- MS Word and Excel
- Outlook, Zoom
- Webpage and customer management software (e.g. Cvent)
- Ability to work independently to complete all projects and tasks on time with minimal supervision but also be able to work in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications
- Strong customer service skills
- Must be able to deal with confidential or sensitive information with tact and discretion
- Ability to lift and move event items and supplies up to 40 pounds with assistance
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the event weekend
- Experience planning and implementing large events or working in an academic setting
- Experience with Cornell Systems (Purchasing, BOX, Slack/MS Teams)
- Experience hosting, planning, or moderating hybrid events
- Experience with budgeting and purchasing
- This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.
- Applicants must be available to work a large conference event at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine onsite from October 8-12, 2025.
- This is a part time, 3 month temporary position
