II. Position Summary: Responsible for providing a safe and cost effective quality dining experience in the cafeteria for staff, patients and visitors. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and goals of the mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize patient dignity and choice in aspects of daily life. Strive to make every encounter with a patient into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity, while providing safe and efficient quality of care. II. Position Responsibilities: Provides outstanding customer service to all who utilize the service of the staff cafeteria. Ensures that all food is properly served according to the established recipes, utilizing proper portion control. Ensures all foods are held and served at proper temperatures and are attractively presented. Participates in pre-meal mini-meetings with staff when called. Understands and follows all Kosher regulations. Ensures that all frozen foods are pulled and thawed according to schedule in order to ensure their wholesomeness. Ensures that all food in the refrigerators and freezers is covered, labeled and dated. Maintains all work areas, storage areas, utensils and equipment in a cleaned, sanitized and orderly fashion according to the latest regulatory (state, federal and Kosher) requirements. Uses proper potholders and cleaning towels. Prepares and cooks food for cafeteria. Sets up multiple stations in the cafeteria with food and non food items. Serves customers as directed. Packages meals for Meals on Wheels program. Maintains the temperature log system and follows up upon if results exceed boundaries. Sets up and serves for catered events. Follow and ensure adherence to pertinent safety rules, uniform code, jewelry policy, personal hygiene policy and state and federal regulations. Follows menu substitution policy as directed. In absence of cashier, performs all routine cashiering functions as directed. Attends regular meetings as assigned. Performs additional related duties as required or as directed. Promote effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, maintaining professional conduct at all times. Identified and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively. Demonstrate a positive supportive attitude towards all. Display patience and tact when dealing with all Center personnel. Present department in a positive manner towards visitors, patients and staff. Consistently maintain a courteous and pleasant attitude toward visitors, patients and staff. Communicate effectively. Contribute to the efficient and productive operation of the department. Completes assignments with minimal assistance and total follow up. Exercise initiative, seeking additional tasks and projects from chef. Accept assignments readily. Recognize problems independently and work toward improving systems and procedures. Communicate with supervisor or manager as to any problems relating to missing or defective equipment. Listens and respects others' opinions. Accountable for staying informed by reviewing memos, emails and other forms of communication. Responsible for communicating and responding to issues and problems within the household in a timely and efficient manner. Responds to patients in all situations with a calm, sensitive and supportive approach. Teamwork/Collaboration and Flexibility Is flexible to the needs of the household, the department and HRC. Acts in a manner outside the traditional role as needed in order to meet patients' needs. Works as a member of the team by pro-actively working to meet patient and household needs. Professionalism Follows all policies and procedures set forth by the organization and outlined in HRC's policy manuals and the employee handbook. Maintains confidentiality of patient and household information. Meets all requirements as outlined by regulatory and licensure standards. Technical Skills/Documentation Demonstrates competence with data entry and access to the electronic medical record (if applicable). Maintains documentation in accordance with professional standards and guidelines (if applicable). Uses the computer as trained to access emails and other online resources. Quality Improvement Communicates issues/concerns to leadership that may require quality monitoring. Offers suggestions and solutions that may improve systems and care. Keeps updated on performance improvement projects at the Health Center. Participates in quality improvement initiatives as may be required. Leadership/Development Serves as a resource/mentor to the team, new employees, and students (if applicable). Is an active participant in shared governance (committees, tasks force etc.) as designated (if applicable)? Seeks opportunity for professional development by attending internal and external trainings, educational programs and conferences. Safety Practices in accordance with established standards of care for safety of patient, self and co-workers. Identifies and reports basic safety issues or problems (ex. Spills) and takes action whenever appropriate. Identifies and reports errors/potential errors according to policy. Uses equipment as trained and according to organizational policy. Identifies malfunctioning equipment, removes from use, and reports according to policy. Adheres to all infection control policies. Promotes the health and safety of all by following established infection control procedures (i.e., hand washing, use of personal protective equipment). Other Participates in household meetings as required Performs other related duties as required or directed. III.Qualifications High School or equivalent plus post high school specializing in food service training. Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in cooking, salad preparation, sandwich making, sanitation, and storage. 1 year of retail experience with at least 6 months of high volume feeding. Successful completion of HRCA orientation. IV.Physical Requirements May be exposed to heat, cold, moisture, odors and other food service area elements. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and must be able to routinely lift 30 lbs on a regular basis.
