COOK - RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
Center Point, Inc., seeks an experienced and qualified cook to prepare meals for the Co-Ed community-based substance use disorder residential treatment facility.
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION :
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Cook prepares meals for Center Point residential programs. S / he drafts menus for approval, prices items, and, when necessary, purchases food and non-food items at local markets. The Cook maintains a perpetual inventory of food stock and rotates the stock according to the date of purchase. The Cook maintains the kitchen according to the Health Department and State Licensing regulations. The Cook also supervises and trains clients assigned to work in the kitchen.
PRIMARY DUTIES :
Prepares at least two-week menus and submits them for approval.
Maintains perpetual inventory of food and non-food stock.
Rotate food stock according to the date of purchase.
Label all food in storage, including the date cooked or when opening the container.
Prepares nutritious meals for Center Point Residential facilities.
Prepares food for special occasions, including dinners, special functions, and meetings.
Supervises and trains clients assigned to work in the kitchen.
Maintains inventory of donated food and non-food items.
Maintains kitchen cleanly and healthily.
Interacts with clients and staff in a culturally sensitive manner.
May perform floor coverage duties.
Oversees the cleaning of the kitchen, including the operation of the dishwasher.
Transports clients as needed using Center Point vehicles.
MINIMUM STANDARDS :
Consistently performs above standard all regular functions of the position.
Shows initiative and eagerly assumes additional tasks and responsibilities beyond defined job duties.
Is organized, meets deadlines, and is prompt and accurate with project assignments (submits work on time, is correct, and has not needed reminders).

EDUCATION / VOCATIONAL PREPARATION :
A high school diploma or GED certificate is required. Two years of experience in food service, preparing large quantities of food, is essential. The ability to follow directions is vital.
