Job Summary

The Cook County Board of Review (CCBOR) is a quasi-judicial agency that reviews and adjudicates property tax appeals. The Customer Service Specialist (CSS) is responsible for performing several tasks inside the office of the Chief Clerk of the Board. The (CSS) is responsible for analyzing and improving the overall taxpayer services satisfaction. The CSS will lead various Projects and work closely with the Chief Clerk. The position requires a highly motivated self-starter who anticipates needs and takes initiative to solve problems independently. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical organization and possess strong communication skills necessary to interact with a variety of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Clerk and management team.
  • Evaluate taxpayers' interaction to enhance taxpayers' experience through office visits and telecommunications, email and community engagement.
  • Create efficiencies and identify strategies for streamlined taxpayer intake information.
  • Provide analysis and make recommendations relating to issues that impact the Clerk's office.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Clerk and management team
  • Create special reports, power point presentations and serve as a leader for special projects.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and have strong time-management skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, PLUS three (3) years of professional work experience, or an equivalent combination of professional work experience, training and education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe
  • Knowledge of the Board of Review a plus
  • Bi-lingual with proficiency in Spanish languages a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Visual acuity to review and edit written communications for long periods of time.
  • Walking between offices and buildings may be required.
  • Repetitive use of hands to handle and/or operate standard office equipment.
  • Regular use of a telephone to communicate.
  • Ability to occasionally lift files of voluminous documents.

Residency Requirements

Must establish/maintain Cook County, Illinois, Residency - Employees are required to live full-time within the geographic boundaries of Cook County, Illinois.
