This part time position will handle Back of House duties at the Commons during the Fall and Spring semesters. May also be required to execute the duties of this position at other locations on campus as needed. Position will report to a Bon Appetit Supervisor.

Core Duties

Back of the House essential duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist in food preparation and service at cafe stations through meal periods
• Assist culinary staff in the kitchen with food prep, batch cooking, and special events
• Prepare items to be used in later production for cold and hot entrees and salads.
• Prepare breads, rolls, pastry and desserts for daily operation.
• Sort, wash and store dishes for the operation.
• Assist in restocking of dishes on service line as time allows.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restaurant equipment and dishes
• Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
• Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.
• Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
• Must possess or obtain a current Oregon Food handler's card.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience preferred, not required.

Physical Requirements

• Possess the ability to meet Bon Appetit unit specific uniform standards for this position.
• Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment per Bon Appetit guidelines.
• Wear a cut resistance glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument.
• Frequently bend, stoop and perform extensive walking
• Exert well-paced mobility to move from different areas of facility as service and production demands require
• Occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of lifting force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects
