Grandview Heights Schools is hiring for a part-time Cook/Cashier to work at the kitchen in the Elementary School The position will be 2hrs per day and will likely be 10:45am - 12:45pm.

Title: Cook / Cashier

Reports To: Director of Food Service

Evaluation: According to Article XIX of GHESSA Contract

Qualifications
  • High school diploma required or equivalent
  • Ohio Level 2 Food Protection Certification Training certification must be attended within 9 months of employment ( effective for all new hires beginning 11/9/2023 )
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment employed in large scale food preparation
  • Acceptable FBI and BCI background checks
General Duty Statemen t

Contributes to the effective and efficient operation of the food service department by adhering to all safety and health requirements in relation to the preparation and serving of food, and the safe and proper operation of the necessary equipment within the district and performs other duties as reasonably related to this job description.

Health, Safety, Security, and Customer Service
  • Follows the school nurse guidelines for serving students with allergies
  • Monitors the flow in/out of the kitchen area and ensures payment for food items
  • Secures the inventory and cash assets of the kitchen
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue (training is provided)
  • Abides by all Board of Education policies and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  • Interact with others in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner
  • Assist other members of the food service department as needed

Kitchen Operations:

  • Prepares, cooks, and serves simple hot foods, sandwiches, salads and desserts
  • Rotates and ensures proper storage of stock items, as received
  • Reports all out-of-stock items to the Director of Food Services
  • Performs safe operation of standard and commercial cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, roasters, food processors, dish washers, ovens, and ranges
  • Assumes responsibility for the proper care of equipment and reports malfunctions to the Director of Food Services
  • Ensures the proper storage of leftover food
  • Performs general cleaning, dish washing and related work, as necessary to maintain efficient operations
  • Manages the front-end Point-of-Sale system
