QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Certificate of training or equivalent experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of general grounds care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES AS GROUNDSKEEPER

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.

  • Maintain all school grounds, sports fields, and playgrounds using in-house expertise, labor, and equipment as much as possible, keeping grass trimmed, and free of debris and weeds.
  • Keep walk ways around district buildings clear of snow and ice to the extent possible with district equipment.
  • Prepare sports fields for events, including mowing, and marking fields and track.
  • Efficiently establish a daily routine and work schedule with supervisor.
  • Respond to reports of equipment malfunctions and facility problems and emergencies as directed by supervisor.
  • Assist with renovation and other specific projects as directed by supervisor.
  • Advise director of maintenance about concerns and equipment malfunctions as well as recommended purchases of grounds keeping supplies and equipment.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance of school grounds and equipment used, keeping accurate and organized records of work.
  • Prepare high school for sporting events, and take care of cleanup after sporting events, as needed. Notify supervisor of any concerns with athletic facilities.
  • Supervise and assist student personnel employed for summer trimming and grounds work.
  • Perform other grounds keeping duties as assigned by supervisor.

EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE/EMPLOYMENT

An annual evaluation of performance to determine re-employment will be conducted by the Director of Maintenance.
