Job DetailsBar Back Hellbender
Hellbender Bar Backs are responsible for providing warm hospitality to guests, executing Hellbender steps of service in a professional yet natural and unforced manner and maintaining a general command of the food and beverage menu. They are responsible for production of juice, syrups, and other bar ingredients as well as assisting with aspects of floor service including running food and drink, clearing and resetting tables, table maintenance, and supporting the bartenders throughout service.

Responsibilities:
Menu Knowledge
- Keep up to date with Hellbender food menu, be able to identify and describe all dishes and style of service
in a clear fashion and be able to accurately answer guests questions or, if you dont have the answer,
determine the proper staff member who can and direct them to the guest
- Have a general grasp of Hellbender beverage program and be able to summarize our philosophy and
identify our different offerings
- Understand different types of allergy restrictions and can identify and competently deliver specially prepared food to guests
- Take initiative to learn the cooking techniques and processes used in the kitchen at Hellbender
- Make an effort to build food and beverage knowledge
Station Set Up
- Assist in setting up the bar and dining room for service according to step by step guide and specifics
in the service manual.
- Work with the rest of the service team to ensure that the dining room is fully set up in time, offering help
to teammates as necessary.
Service and Guest Experience
- Maintain a warm, hospitable and friendly environment for guests and co-workers; this is the top priority
- Provide thoughtful and professional service to guests, following Hellbender steps of service
- Balance professional behavior and service without being stiff or cold
- Help run food and drinks to guests and keep on top of table maintenance
- Support the Bartenders and Server teams in all aspects of service
- Clear and reset tables in between seatings as well as maintain the cleanliness of the dining room and guest facing areas at all times.
Sidework
- Follow sidework guidelines provided by Hellbender management
- Maintain cleanliness of dining room and server stations throughout service, even when busy
- Understand DOH guidelines and consistently follow best practices laid out by Hellbender management team
- Produce juice and syrup to pars set by hellbender beverage program guidelines
- Support the bar team and service team throughout all guest facing periods.
Qualifications:
1+ years of restaurant experience
Solid ability to multi-task, problem solve and delegate
Initiative and follow through
Excellent verbal communication
Attention to detail
Understanding of restaurant POS systems
Education:
Bachelors Degree or Certification in Hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise gained from time on the job
Physical:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to bend/climb stairs as necessary
Ability to lift/push 50+ lbs.
Meets grooming standards as outlined by employee guidelines
Ability to perform essential job responsibilities and maintain professionalism under pressure
Attends mandatory meetings, including team meetings, leadership meetings, etc.
Compensation DetailsCompensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
