_ Colombiere Center of Clarkston, MI is looking for a full time cook to serve our residents, staff and large groups. _

This position is eligible for pay increase after the first 4 months of employment based on passing proficiency benchmarks.

POSITION AVAILABLE:
Full Time - 80 hours offered bi-weekly. Must be available to work weekdays and weekends. Kitchen is open 5am-7pm. Shift times will range to fill business needs.
JOB SUMMARY: Prepares meals for all Colombiere Center departments. Assists Cook/Supervisor as scheduled.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
(Performs other duties as assigned.)
1. Plans and prepares hot and cold foods for all meals after consulting with Cook Supervisor. Use standardized recipes as a reference when needed.
2. Follows proper safety procedures.
3. Prepares foodstuffs for cooking by gathering items using recipe cards for a specific menu item.
4. Presents meals in a visually appealing manner.
5. Monitors temperatures of foods by using temperature chart guidelines and a food service thermometer and checking the product's temperature throughout the cooking and meal times.
6. Serves food during meal hours and observes meal line to replenish items when needed.
7. Retrieves and properly dates labels; seals and stores leftovers.
8. Prepares baked items ahead of schedule as needed.
9. Performs other duties as assigned and assists other staff as needed.
10. Demonstrates a service-oriented attitude towards Jesuits, staff, guests and visitors.
11. Contributes to the cost containment effort of Colombiere Center and makes suggestions for the cost-effective operation of the department.
12. Unloads and stores supplies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education/Skills/Abilities :
High school education or equivalent desirable, but not required.
Two years' experience as a cook, with experience preparing food for large groups ranging from 70-300 people.
Food service equipment operation experience desired.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normally works a regular eight hour day and if often required to fill in on weekends, holidays, and various shifts for various jobs, which may include overtime.
Frequent lifting of items up to (40) pounds.
Constant standing and walking.
Close attention to food preparation and presentation standards, invoice verification, safety, and equipment operation.
Food preparation and serving deadlines impose mental pressure.
Frequent exposure to moist, hot, cold and other environmental conditions.
