Taverna 1821 is a pop up concept in Fulton Market area of the West Loop. We welcome all and invite our guests to feel the nostalgia of old Greece with authentic dishes and fun cocktails! With our open doors and patio seating we are a vibrant part of our neighborhood. We are seeking an experienced FULL TIME bar back to join our team.
Position Summary: The Bar Back supports bartenders in providing excellent guest experiences by maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and efficiently organized bar. This role ensures bartenders have all the tools, ingredients, and supplies needed to serve guests quickly and professionally. We are seeking someone who can work well within our small team who can present as bright and cheerful to all they encounter.
Key Responsibilities
Restock beer, wine, liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar tools throughout service.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, including counters, shelves, storage areas, and bar equipment.
Remove empty bottles, cans, and trash, ensuring recycling and waste areas are kept orderly.
Assist in cutting fruit, preparing garnishes, and stocking ice bins.
Clean and polish glassware, bar utensils, and drinkware to company standards.
Support bartenders during high-volume service by delivering supplies quickly and discreetly.
Refill ice bins and maintain ice levels to meet service demands.
Assist in beverage rotation.
Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Provide general support to bartenders and management as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Previous bar or hospitality experience
Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Knowledge of basic bar operations and drink preparation is a plus.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands: This position requires frequent lifting, bending, carrying, and standing for the duration of the shift. We adhere to all local, state, and federal laws. Equal Opportunity Employer.
Work Environment: Busy bar setting with exposure to music, varying temperatures, and occasional wet/slippery floors.
Schedule:
Full-Time schedule with 8-11 hour shifts depending on the day and season. Tuesday-Saturday availability.
Compensation: Hourly ($20.00) plus tips
