JOB SUMMARY:

Runner Up, a cozy and refined wine bar within the Winner Hospitality family, is seeking a talented and personable cook to lead our intimate open-kitchen experience. This role is ideal for a passionate cook who thrives in a fine dining environment and enjoys engaging with guests.

The customer-facing Cook at Runner Up is responsible for preparing high-quality food while engaging directly with guests. This role blends culinary skill with hospitality, offering the chance to cook, interact with diners, answer menu questions, and help create a welcoming experience. Youll work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to maintain efficiency, consistency, and safety in every service. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation & Service
Prepare dishes according to recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards.
Operate assigned station(s) (e.g., grill, saute, fry) efficiently during service.
Complete prep work and mise en place for each shift.
Ensure timely execution and consistent quality for every order.

Guest Interaction
Greet and engage with guests in a warm, approachable manner.
Answer menu and ingredient questions with confidence.
Partner with FOH staff to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.

Quality & Consistency
Taste dishes regularly for seasoning and freshness.
Maintain strict portion control and presentation standards.
Monitor storage, labeling, and rotation to minimize waste and maintain quality.

Safety & Sanitation
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout service.
Properly store and label all food items.

Teamwork & Communication
Coordinate with team members to fulfill orders accurately.
Assist colleagues during high-volume periods.
Participate in kitchen meetings, debriefs, and training sessions.

Inventory & Stock
Track station stock levels and communicate needs promptly.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries.
Support waste reduction through proper portioning and storage.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum 3 year in a professional kitchen, preferably customer-facing.
Skills: Strong culinary fundamentals, knowledge of multiple cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
Service Mindset: Enjoys interacting with guests and delivering great hospitality.
Physical Requirements: Stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in high-heat environments.
Attributes: Team player, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and dependable.

HOURS & COMPENSATION
Schedule: Full-time, including evenings and weekends
Pay: $25$27/hour
