Position Summary:
The Bartender at Keeneland Hospitality delivers warm, welcoming service across a dynamic and fast-paced property that includes elevated cocktail lounges, premium dining rooms, and high-energy concessions within an iconic horse racing venue. This role calls for versatility—balancing professional technique and thoughtful hospitality with speed, awareness, and adaptability during race meets and large-scale events. Bartenders should bring a positive attitude, strong beverage knowledge, and a passion for creating memorable guest moments, whether behind a fine-tuned cocktail bar or pouring draft beer at peak volume.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve craft cocktails, wine, and beer according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient bar setup before, during, and after service.
- Engage guests with professionalism and warmth, offering recommendations and sharing cocktail narratives.
- Ensure all garnishes, syrups, and prep ingredients are stocked and properly stored.
- Follow all health code, safety and sanitation procedures, including proper jigger use, shaking technique, and glassware handling.
- Execute batch cocktail prep and contribute to bar efficiencies.
- Support wine service standards, including presentation and proper pouring technique.
- Communicate proactively with the team to maintain flow of service.
- Uphold Keeneland’s values of tradition, excellence, and elevated hospitality.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 2+ years bartending experience in upscale or high-volume environments.
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, and cocktail technique.
- Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure.
- Flexible availability, especially during race meets and major events.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Upbeat and positive attitude with a strong team mentality.
Licensing Requirements:
- A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift.
- A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
