To provide general custodial activities under general supervision for all state-owned structures, land and state-maintained structures and grounds. Duties are performed according to regularly assigned schedules with priority given to specific areas/locations. Activities may include light maintenance, operation of equipment as needed, routine cleaning and housekeeping, grounds keeping, special maintenance and repair activities, special events, and other related work as required to maintain a pleasant, healthful, aesthetic, and secure environment for all staff and clientele.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
To clean and maintain a specific area so that activities can be conducted in a sanitary, functional environment.
Operate, maintain, and make minor repairs on vacuums, auto scrubbers, roto, extractors, and other mechanical equipment so that cleaning and maintenance responsibilities are performed timely and efficiently. To make minor repairs in specific areas, ex. Toilets, urinals, locks, tables, and seating.
Set up needed equipment and furnishings so that scheduled activities can be conducted.
Secure buildings for closing.
To clean sidewalks and entrances if needed so that orderly appearances and accessibility are ensured, and to keep the grounds functional and safe.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Building Maintenance Supervisor to maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable partner for our community to learn in.
Salary Range:
$20.21-$25.05/per hour
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
Ability to have the physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform assigned tasks with limited work direction and ability to keep simple records.
Must have a valid Minnesota State class D drivers license.
Preferred Qualification
Thorough knowledge of building custodial practices and procedures and equipment, materials, and supplies.
Special Class C Boilers License or higher or the ability to obtain one.
Current class A CDL drivers license.
Ability to write reports.
Some knowledge of building utilities maintenance and repair.
Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCUs vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
