Job Details Job Overview:Yi-Cha, a new Korean gastropub opening its doors in the heart of the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean workspace, and assisting the culinary team with various tasks. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a fast-paced, high-end restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Experience working in Asian restaurants or with Korean cuisine is highly preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
Prepare and portion ingredients according to the restaurants recipes and specifications.
Wash, peel, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as needed.
Measure and mix ingredients for recipes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies for the kitchen line.
Assist in preparing sauces, stocks, and other basic kitchen preparations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
Follow food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring all ingredients are stored properly.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.
Support line cooks and chefs during service by preparing and supplying ingredients in a timely manner.
Participate in daily prep lists and tasks as assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
2-4 years of experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role in a full service restaurant kitchen.
Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety, and sanitation standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Willingness to learn and take direction from the culinary team.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well with others.
Culinary school education is a plus, but not required.
Food Handler certification required.
Must be eligible to work in the the US Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($19.00 - $21.00) plus tips
