Job DescriptionThe Lead Barista is responsible for the work activities of the Baristas on their assigned shifts. They are also responsible for accomplishing duties required of Barista to ensure efficient operation of the Nosh concession area.
The Lead Barista:
- Promotes a safe working environment.
- Monitors and supervises NOSH Barista job performances, customer service, sales levels, employee work relationships, and persists in keeping the assigned work areas in an orderly and clean manner.
- Evaluates, trains, and develops subordinate personnel.
- Is responsible for assigning work to subordinates and ensuring that it is completed in a timely manner. May grant overtime and early outs and is also responsible for disciplining subordinate employees with the assistance of F&B Assistant Manager. Will assist with recommendations on evaluations of subordinate employees, in reference to wage increases and promotions.
- Prepares foods that are to be grilled, fried, broiled, baked, microwaved or prepared in the pantry; ensures that all plates or pans served are aesthetically appealing and cooked to the specifications of the customer and the chef.
- Keeps workstation neat and clean.
- Assists coworkers to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen.
- Maintains a general awareness of Belterra events and features so as to be able to answer guests questions.
- Reviews and assists in Virtual Roster scheduling
- Assists in completing and compiling a consistent, accurate inventory.
- Completes ordering weekly.
- Maintains accurate and overall menu knowledge to assist in upselling and team member training.
- Promotes an energetic work environment by engaging team members in pre-shift and developmental one on ones.
- Maintains all board of health regulations and EcoSure standards, to promote a sanitary work environment.
- Ensures periodic quality checks for all products and service, i.e., greeting times.
- Oversees and ensures all stations are properly stocked and set up.
- Oversees and ensures all equipment and working conditions are well maintained.
- Will accomplish such other job duties that may be assigned by F&B leadership.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, as well as all levels of employees.
- Ability to observe and direct actions of subordinates and to inspect and maintain areas for which responsible.
- Must be able to distinguish between different denominations of currency and make change.
- Must be able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently move around food service area.
- Ability to carry food orders, stock supplies and bus tables.
- Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
- This position operates in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.
- Machines and equipment used, but not limited to, include cash register, coffee machine, espresso machine, coffee grinder, grill, fryer, waffle iron, panini maker, and Turbo Chef.
- At times subjected to hazards such as wet floors and hot grease.
- Demonstrated knowledge of specialty coffee/snack bar operations, basic food preparation, and line work experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
The skills are typically acquired through on-the-job experience in specialty coffee, snack bar or similar food facility. Supervisory experience a plus.
