DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will conduct routine maintenance and construction duties throughout the Tioga Forest District. Duties entail conducting building maintenance on state owned facilities such as painting and making necessary repairs. You will also be tasked with maintaining bridges and wheel guards, replacing signs, and removing sediment. Another primary focus of this position involves fire protection and includes making the initial attack on all fires and providing assistance in district prevention efforts as needed. You will be responsible for the complete performance of general housekeeping and building maintenance by cleaning and supplying restrooms, pit latrines, offices, and all other buildings. You will also tend to grounds upkeep such as mowing and weeding, seeding, fertilizing, and mulching for erosion control. This professional may be required to assist forest visitors by providing general information in a friendly and helpful manner.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2026.
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Overtime and travel may be required.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
