An assisted living housekeeper maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary living environment for residents, guests, and staff. Housekeeping responsibilities
Cleaning residents' living spaces
Dusts, vacuums, sweeps, and mops floors.
Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, including fixtures, tubs, showers, and mirrors.
Empties trash and wastebaskets.
Changes linens and makes beds.
Cleans resident refrigerators and microwaves as needed.
Cleans vacated rooms thoroughly for new residents.
Maintaining common areas
Cleans and disinfects all public spaces, including dining rooms, activity rooms, lobbies, and public restrooms.
Vacuums and spot-cleans carpets and scrubs hard floors.
Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.
Cleans interior and exterior windows and doors.
Ensures that common areas are kept tidy and free of clutter to reduce fall hazards.
Laundry services
Collects, washes, dries, folds, and returns residents' personal laundry.
Manages and inspects community laundry, including linens and towels.
Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of the on-site laundry room.
Safety and sanitation
Follows all established infection control and universal precautions procedures.
Uses and stores cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety protocols.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area, including utility closets and supply carts.
Reports any hazardous conditions, equipment issues, or maintenance needs to a supervisor.
Assists in setting up and taking down isolation rooms as directed.
Required skills and qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar cleaning environment is often preferred, particularly within a healthcare or senior living setting.
Regulations: Working knowledge of health and safety policies, procedures, and infection control standards is important.
