About the Role:

The Part Time Janitor plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our facility located at in Detroit. This position ensures that all designated areas are regularly cleaned and sanitized to uphold health and safety standards, contributing to the overall satisfaction of both employees and visitors. The janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning tasks, waste disposal, and minor maintenance duties, supporting the smooth operation of the facility. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently during assigned hours to meet the facility's cleanliness standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and the ability to use them safely.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Legal authorization to work in the location specified (DACM, 1670).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a consumer support or office environment.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to cleaning and sanitation.
  • Certification in workplace safety or cleaning procedures.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with facility staff and management.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours if needed to accommodate special events or cleaning schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors and surfaces in offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials in accordance with company policies.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards observed during cleaning to the facility management team promptly.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture or equipment for meetings or events as required.
