Job Description and Duties
The Maintenance Worker, under the direction of an Area Sergeant, will be responsible for the maintaining the cleanliness of the Red Bluff Area office, interior and exterior property, including, but not limited to, mopping/waxing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows and doors, cleaning windowsills, cleaning blinds, cleaning/dusting furniture and equipment.
Conduct daily cleaning of restroom facilities and re-supplying of all paper products and soap. Remove smudges/marks from all floors, doors, walls, and glass. Clean break room including appliances, tables, cabinets, counter-top, sink, common items including dishes and refrigerator. Clean exterior of building including the parking lot area, sidewalks, fuel bays and parking garage. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure mechanical equipment continues to run efficiently, building systems operate effectively, the facility remains secure and the physical condition of the building(s) does not deteriorate. This includes minor repairs, changing filters, replacing ballasts and fluorescent bulbs, moving furniture and supplies, mowing, trimming and maintaining lawn, trees, maintaining or replacing ornamental plantings and irrigation equipment. Paint and repair roof, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other structures such as sheds and outbuildings. Repair and maintain locks, door and window mechanisms, light fixtures, heaters, other fixtures and gate opener. Maintain and repair cleaning, and other equipment used in the course of this position. Assist the Area Automotive Technician, on a limited basis, by performing routine tasks related to tire maintenance, transport and refueling of vehicles. Inspect, remove, rotate, mount, insert studs, balance tires, inventory and stack tires in shelves. Deliver motor vehicles to automotive shops and garages for necessary maintenance and repair. Clean departmental vehicles. This includes washing and waxing the exterior, washing windows inside and out, vacuuming and washing the trunk and interior. Diagnose minor mechanical problems on the buildings and vehicles, determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Review all facility repair invoices/bids for building repairs to assure accuracy of charges and ensure labor rates are appropriate for repairs performed. Ensure repairs are completed satisfactorily. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
