This position may work on a team or individually to perform custodial tasks across campus to maintain a high standard of facility and grounds cleanliness, attractiveness, health, and safety in a professional manner. Additionally, this position may also support and perform the duties to support setup teams. This position may require the ability to work a flexible schedule and provide support for alternate shifts or for special events setups. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - this position is n on-exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. Provide support for campus service areas through daily cleaning and monitoring of facilities. Perform cleaning procedures for applicable service areas including bathrooms, locker rooms, hallways, floors, stairwells, elevators, corridors, labs, classrooms, weight rooms, etc. Assist the custodial setup team in accomplishing event setup objectives by performing necessary setup tasks. Support and perform snow removal as needed. Assist with the moving and setup of furniture for event setup and campus needs. Effectively communicate with team members, peers, and managers through use of two-way radios, email, phone and in person. Notify necessary supervisor, Campus Safety, or department of safety/security concerns, damaged facilities, inoperable equipment, or general maintenance/repair needs. Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs . This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to: Comply with highly inflexible deadlines Adapt to a variable work schedule; including evenings and weekends as needed. Frequently move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities. Engage in multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing and carrying of objects. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; a team lift technique is required for lifts exceeding 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to read and interpret building and shift schedules, directions for equipment, hazardous material labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical labels. Frequent and prolonged use/exposure to cleaning chemicals, exposure to dust, and potential exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens; Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures must be utilized as required. Able to function in an environment with substantial latex and/or nitrile material exposure and without an allergic reaction. Ability to effectively listen and perceive the nature of sounds and spoken words at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
