Reports To: Principal and Facilities Director
Position Overview:
Old Town High School seeks a dedicated and responsible Head Custodian to lead the custodial team and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the school community. The Head Custodian is responsible for maintaining the building and grounds, supervising custodial staff, and working collaboratively with school administration to support daily operations and special events.
Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, cafeteria, gym, and common areas
Manage custodial staff schedules, assignments, and performance
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures
Order, inventory, and manage custodial supplies and equipment
Coordinate building setup for school events and activities
Respond to emergency facility needs promptly
Communicate regularly with administration regarding building needs and concerns
Collaborate with outside contractors as needed
Qualifications:
CHRC, and background check
High School diploma or equivalent
Prior custodial experience required; leadership/supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, materials, and best practices
Ability to lift 50 pounds, perform manual labor, and work in a physically demanding environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation: Regionally competitive wage and benefits package
Typical Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., with flexibility required for special events or emergency needs.
