Janitor / Custodian Job Description The Janitor / Custodian provides essential cleaning and light maintenance services to keep the facility safe, clean, and well organized. Working Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., this role supports daily building operations through routine cleaning, basic repairs, and assistance with office moves and relocations. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning of the building, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors to maintain a clean and orderly environment. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies. Collect, remove, and dispose of garbage and recycling from offices, common areas, and restrooms. Stock and replenish supplies throughout the facility, and unpack and receive all cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed. Support internal office moves and relocations, including the teardown and assembly of office cubicles and related furniture. Perform general building maintenance tasks such as building start-up procedures at the start of the day and shutdown tasks as needed. Complete minor electrical tasks, such as replacing light bulbs and simple fixtures, in a safe and timely manner. Carry out minor plumbing tasks, such as addressing simple leaks or clogs, within defined capabilities. Maintain interior and exterior areas of the building through general clean-up, including entrances, walkways, and common areas. Handle interior and exterior recycling activities to support efficient and organized building operations. Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on industrial cleaning equipment to keep it in good working condition. Respond to general building maintenance needs as they arise to help maintain efficient and safe building operations. Essential Skills General experience with industrial cleaning equipment and the ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs. Knowledge of basic manual work techniques related to cleaning, custodial tasks, and light maintenance. Ability to consistently maintain good attendance and demonstrate a positive, cooperative attitude. Physical ability to lift and move items weighing between 50 and 100 pounds as part of daily duties. High school diploma or GED required. 0-2 years of related janitorial, custodial, or cleaning experience required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience performing janitorial and custodial duties in a commercial or office environment. Familiarity with general building maintenance tasks, including minor electrical and plumbing work. Comfort working both independently and as part of a team to complete cleaning and maintenance assignments. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility.
