Gabriel Kreuther - a Relais & Chateaux property with two Michelin stars and three New York Times stars - is seeking a passionate and dedicated FOH Service professional to join our team. We are currently interviewing for an experienced Sommelier.

The Sommelier will be responsible for wine service on the floor, maintaining and growing an extensive Grand Award wine cellar, maximizing profit through up-selling all beverages, providing unique and thoughtful wine pairing experiences, contributing to our ongoing staff education program and keeping our team up to date of all changes to the wine list and the wine program. The position requires a minimum of three years of similar professional experience in an upscale dining environment, a teamwork mindset, discipline, a strive for excellence and learning. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality and possess strong communication skills.
  • Must be flexible to assist in different areas of service, as business demands; i.e. taking orders, running food and beverages.
  • Maximize wine sales both directly by selling wine to tables and indirectly through continuous staff education.
  • Ensure positive guest service in all areas, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into regulars.
  • Work with the Wine Director to maintain the organization and accuracy of stock in house
  • Build enthusiasm amongst staff members to taste, learn, discuss and feel confident about what we sell. Sharing this with guests in a fashion that highlights that product and our commitment to serving it.
  • Maintain an up to date restocking of all wine changes by the glass.
  • Assist with monthly inventory.
  • Contribute and lead wine education at pre-shift.
  • Ensure all wine bottles sold are properly rung up in the POS system.
  • Keep all wine rooms organized and properly stocked upon delivery.
  • Possess food and beverage knowledge equivalent to that of a captain or bartender.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
