Job Details New bar in the East Village looking for opening team members!
Barback/Bussers are responsible for positive guest interactions while assisting servers and bartenders serve our guests in a friendly and efficient manner. This role will play an integral part in ensuring our bartenders are well prepared for service, assist servers in keeping the floor clean, stocked and ensure the guests enjoy a clean, safe environment with timely service. To succeed in this role, you will need to have a positive attitude and ability to work well with other FOH team members, and kitchen staff. At all times, barback/bussers are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs and staff needs.
The right person will be passionate about food and service and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing disposition and previous experience working as a barback in a bustling, fast-paced setting.
Your ultimate goal will be to provide high-quality service that will help us maintain and attract customers.
Responsibilities:
- Protect establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Provide welcoming greetings and take all food and drink orders from guests accurately, with a positive attitude.
- Maintain bar maintenance by performing steps of service and removing courses as completed, if needed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs
- Obtain revenues by starting tabs, pre-authorizing cards, and ensuring payment, tips and signatures have been collected through Toast POS
- Contribute to teamwork each shift by assisting other team members with delivering food, drinks, and/or desserts to guests that might not be in your assigned area
- Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by a supervisor or manager.
- Complete bar prep and batching as necessary
- Monitor the intoxication level of customers and inform management/security of anyone suspected of being overly intoxicated
- Fulfill both assigned and running side work throughout the shift.
- Assist with special events as needed.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
- Promptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by ownership, management, or supervisors.
- Keep the bar stocked with liquor, syrups, glasses, napkins and all other necessary items before and during service hours.
- Prepare garnishes, refill ice wells, change beer kegs and restock napkins and straws.
- Clean up the spills, remove the glassware and organize the counter.
- Keep the bar and floor areas neat and clean.
- Coordinate with managers, kitchen staff and security personnel to ensure efficient service to customers.
- Handle emergency situations, like cleaning up broken glasses and clearing up clogged drains
Compensation: Hourly ($11.35) plus tips
